It offers them a solid foundation to practice professionally as a Holistic Health Consultant.

  What is Holistic Health?
Modern medicine approaches a disease as a separate physical phenomenon. If I have a headache, there is something wrong with my head, and we take medicine for that. We are always curing the symptoms, but never looking deeper into the root of the symptoms. Holistic Health approaches everything as one, everything as interconnected. You are not separate, you are whole. A holistic approach is not even separating anyone as an individual. You are a part of the whole. Any changes happening to the whole existence, naturally brings changes to the individual.

Holistic Health approaches the person as a whole and the body as a divine body. It does not treat the symptoms; it looks for the root of the imbalance. This means not approaching the person as something wrong which needs to be corrected. The Holistic Health Advisor is listening to the body’s message, as an expression of the perfect wholeness. This supports the person to return to balance, return into its natural state of harmony. By giving inspiring guidance to balance the daily life and rhythm of the person, the food and lifestyle, the Holistic Health Advisor creates a positive approach towards one’s own body. And here is where the healing starts.

Curriculum of Studies
:

Ayurvedic Health Advisor Education
Our students learn about Ayurveda as the ancient knowledge of traditional medicine and natural healing adapted to today’s life. Ayurveda is a holistic philosophy of healing practice for body and mind. This includes the study and science of nutrition, methods of consultation, different methods of diagnosis (pulse diagnosis etc.) and how to heal various diseases and symptoms. Ayurveda has two main focuses: to maintain the health of a healthy person and to treat the diseased one. The course offers the students a deeper understanding of the science of Ayurveda and how to use this wisdom to diagnose and give Ayurvedic consultancy and professional guidance.

Science of Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a holistic system of medicine based on the healing power of Nature. It believes the body is self-healing and has the capacity to recover from illness spontaneously in the right environment. Here the students study a wide range of therapies and treatments, relying exclusively on natural remedies such as: sunlight, air, soil, water, color etc. Naturopathy involves raw food diet and therapies such as mud therapy, hydrotherapy, chromotherapy, detoxification (i.e. fasting programs) herbal medicine and physical therapies including yoga and massage.

Reflexology - Acupressure
With simple hand and finger techniques, the acupressure sends nerve impulses along the energy pathways, causing responses (relaxation) in corresponding parts of the body. Acupressure relieves stress and tension, improves circulation, stimulates the lymphatic system and cleanses the body of toxins. The students learn how reflexology can be beneficial for different physical ailments and conditions, and study through practical sessions the various reflexology techniques.

As an integrated part of the education students study and learn traditional Abhyanga, an ancient Indian massage therapy which predates the Vedic period. This therapy of oil massage serves to invigorate the circulatory system of the body and is an efficient deep cleansing method. The life sustaining practice increases the body’s strength, mobility, flexibility and is an efficient deep cleansing type of massage. Students receive the theoretical knowledge and practical skills on the Abhyanga techniques of deep relaxation.
Students are also introduced to the topics of Panchakarma, the well known deep cleansing and healing therapy of Ayurvedic Science.

Hatha Yoga
Learning and practicing Yoga as a holistic life path is nourished in the living and learning experience of the Ashram community, where all limbs of Yoga (Karma, Bhakti, Jnana and Raja) are practiced. Every morning we start the day with meditation followed by Hatha Yoga practice. Students receive theory classes on yoga, history and science of yoga, healing benefits of yoga as a therapy etc.
